Between the numerous music gigs and fan meetings happening this weekend, we’ve got you sorted on what to check out in Singapore.
Retrolicious 2013 returns, turning back the clock to the heyday of big hair and neon leg warmers. Get your 80’s on with Bananarama, Belinda Carlisle and Rick Astley at Fort Canning on 19 October. You'll be excused if you sing at the top of your voice to 'Heaven is a place on earth' and 'Love in the first degree'.
You have just been rickrolled.
Lithuanian accordionist Martynas will be playing at Zouk tonight at 8pm for the Southeast Asia’s first ever Yellow Lounge. Read more about it here.
If you’re up for some Bollywood tunes and contemporary Indian music, you’re in luck. Shankar, Ehsaan & Loy, the men behind modern Bollywood classics, are in town for one night only for ‘The Firebrand of Indian Music Live in Singapore’.
Arguably their biggest hit, the evergreen 'Kal Ho Na Ho', from the Shahrukh Khan-starrer of the same name.
There’s also the chance to meet former Italy team captain Fabio Cannavaro. As the man who led Italy to their 2006 World Cup victory, this is the closest you’re going to get to a modern day football legend. He’ll even be signing stuff, so make sure to bring your merchandise along. The first 100 fans to arrive at each session will also receive a limited edition Tiger Beer football memorabilia.
The cast members of hilarious Korean variety series Running Man are also in town for a fan meeting at the Singapore Expo. Get up close with the cast as they travel around Asia. 5 of the 7 hosts will be here, including HaHa (Ha Dong Hoon), Kim Jong Kook, Jee Seok Jin, and Monday couple Gary (Kang Hee Gun) and Song Ji Hyo.
Get an introduction to flamenco dancing with a masterclass by Jesus Carmona, that focuses on Bulerías steps in the movement of the feet and arms.
Then catch him later at one of the highlights of Esplanade’s da:ns festival 2013, ‘Gala Flamenca featuring Antonio Canales, Carlos Rodriguez, & Karime Amaya' as well. As some of the world’s most celebrated flamenco dancers, they span three generations. Definitely worth prioritising on your to-do list.
