Actor-comedian Kevin Hart: 'Short men are more confident'

Listen up, single ladies.

Here’s a piece of advice from Kevin Hart: “Short men are the most confident.”

“You have to understand the level of confidence that you have to have to be with a taller woman and not bother you,” Hart said.

In his new movie Ride Along 2’, Hart’s character Ben is engaged to a very much taller Angela, played by actress Tika Sumpter.

And in a case of reel life imitating real life, Hart who stands at 1.63m, is engaged to former model Eniko Parrish. They are getting married this August.

“We’re fun and energetic. This is a true fact: short people have energy. There’s never a dull moment when they’re around. What woman doesn’t like a good time? If you put a personality with confidence and energy, you’ve got a match made in heaven,” Hart said.

He laughed: “Short and funny beat tall, sexy and no personality any day.

The 35-year-old actor is in Singapore to promote the buddy-cop comedy, and also for his comedy show ‘What Now?’ this evening at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre. Singapore will be his only stop in Asia.

‘Ride Along 2’, which also stars Ice Cube, opened at number 1 in the US on 15 January, even edging out ‘The Revenant’. This is Hart’s sixth no. 1 opener.

Speaking about the film’s success back home, Hart said: “People are ready for this genre of comedy to come back. It’s been missing for a while. It may not be a new genre but it’s the kind of comedy that people love to see.”

“They’ve been in space for ‘Star Wars’; now it’s time to come back to Earth,” he quipped.

If you follow Hart on Instagram, you’ll notice that the actor has been hitting the gym regularly. Is he a true-blue gym rat or is he getting ready for something else, like an action movie?

“I’m slowly opening that door,” Hart said.

He said the level of action in his recent offerings like the two ‘Ride Along’ movies and the upcoming ‘Central Intelligence’ with Dwayne Johnson, have been upped significantly. “It’s showing people that ‘he can do it when he wants to,” Hart explained.

He added: “The reason why I’m so big in the gym now is because I’m on the big screen. You have to look good for the people that spend money to see you. This is just another way of me taking my craft seriously.”

With more than 20 movies under his belt and his own television comedy series ‘Real Husbands of Hollywood’, Hart’s first love is still doing stand-up.

“I wouldn’t be here without stand-up comedy,” Hart said.

“It would be a disservice to my fan-base if I walked away from it. I love the art of stand-up comedy. I love taking thoughts, constructing them into jokes and have an audience to laugh at them. That’s my therapy. I’m still a sane person because I have an outlet. The stage is where I get things off my chest,” he explained.

"The day I bottle that up is probably the day Kevin Hart goes crazy.”

‘Ride Along 2’ opens 25 February 2016
