Anthony Chen's 'Distance' to open Golden Horse Film Festival

Singapore filmmaker Anthony Chen is flying the Singapore flag high again this November as his latest project 'Distance' is chosen to open for the upcoming Golden Horse Film Festival in Taipei.

The film, an omnibus directed by three award-winning directors China's Xin Yukun (China), Tan Shijie from Singapore and Thailand's Sivaroj Kongsakul stars Taiwanese actor Chen Bolin in a career-defining role where he plays three different characters.

'Distance' is produced by Chen's film production company Giraffe Pictures and he serves as an executive producer of the film.

"It is a great honour for 'Distance' to be chosen to open the festival. I am excited to be able to return to Golden Horse to present the film," Chen said in a statement. Chen's debut feature 'Ilo Ilo' (2013) bagged a string of international awards including the Camera d'Or at Cannes and a Golden Horse for Best Feature.

Chen added: "This serves as a wonderful encouragement and affirmation for our three talented directors. The film is very unique as it combines creative voices from different parts of Asia, sparking and bringing forward new ideas."

The film also stars Hong Kong actor Paul Chun, Chinese actress Jiang Wenli, Singapore actres Yeo Yann Yann and Taiwanese actor Tony Yang Yo-ning.

'Distance' is slated to open in Singapore during the first quarter of 2016.
