Armin Van Buuren remix of 'Let It Go' to feature on new Disney remix album

BUKIT JALIL, Malaysia — Jasmine and Aladdin, move over. There’s a new Disney pair in town, and it involves Dutch trance DJ Armin Van Buuren and 'Frozen’s' Snow Queen Elsa.

The Oscar-winning track, 'Let It Go' is getting the trance treatment by arguably the biggest trance music star in the world, Armin Van Buuren. The track will feature on a remix compilation album of Disney classics called 'Dconstructed'.

Speaking at 'A State of Trance 650' at Bukit Jalil Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, the DJ revealed to that when Disney executives called him up, he agreed to do the remix on the basis that it was going to have the Armin Van Buuren signature.

“If I do a remix, I’m not going to use the whole vocal. So it will be a trance-y remix, which I’m going to play in my sets. It has to fit my sets well,” Van Buuren said.

His weekly radio show, 'A State of Trance' has an estimated 20 million listeners globally, through satellite and internet radio stations.

'Let It Go', which has become a pop culture phenomenon of sorts, has garnered numerous YouTube covers, Buzzfeed posts, memes and the like.

“I liked the chorus of the song, so that’s in the remix. I think you’ll recognise more of Armin Van Buuren than Idina (Menzel),” he said, referring to the vocalist on the original.

"Let It Go" from Oscar-winning Disney movie 'Frozen'

Disney’s recent acquisition of Lucasfilm prompted Van Buuren to say that the company is "more than Mickey Mouse and that sort of stuff”.

According to an instagram video post by Walt Disney Records (@disneymusic) on Friday, 'Dconstructed' is currently set for a 22 April release worldwide. The 14 DJs featured on the compilation include Kaskade, Avicii, Mat Zo, BT, Shinichi Osawa, ShyKidx and more, who will take on Disney movie classics such as 'Circle of Life' from ‘The Lion King’ and 'You’ve Got A Friend In Me' from ‘Toy Story’.

Now a father of two young children, Van Buuren also admitted that “since I have a daughter now and a son, I watch Disney movies again."

He added, "Disney’s a great, very professional company to work with. It was an exciting project."
