Over the past week at the geektastic San Diego Comic Con, Marvel has been slowly releasing character specific posters for upcoming blockbuster The Avengers. First released were posters for Iron Man and Captain America, then Hawkeye and Black Widow. Last week saw the release of Thor and the SHIELD agents and this week we finally get our first look at Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk. Each individual poster forms a small piece of the giant Avengers poster, illustrating just how huge in scope this film is going to be.
The detailing on these posters is something to behold, we get a look at the story so far for the big three – Cap’s exploits in the upcoming film, Thor’s dad Odin and his epic battle with Loki and Shellhead’s origins and his romance with Pepper Potts. Cap’s costume in particular looks sleek! On the supporting cast, we see awesome vehicles like the Quinjet at the back of Black Widow’s poster as well as the gargantuan SHIELD Helicarrier for Hawkeye and the SHEILD agents – Nick Fury, Agent Coulson and Fury’s deputy Maria Hill. And yes, Hill’s being played by Cobie Smulders, also known as Robin from popular sitcom How I Met Your Mother.
Even though we thought Hulk looked much better in The Incredible Hulk than Lee Ang’s Hulk, we think they’ve definitely nailed it this time round. It looks straight out of the comics, violent and brutish.
The Avengers is opening May 4 2012. Remember to catch Captain America: The First Avengerthis Thursday, July 28.
