Enter into a birdie’s world of pampering at the new Breeding and Research Centre!

The Breeding & Research Centre (BRC) is the bird nursery of JurongBirdPark -- from the moment the eggs arrive, up to the time chicks hatch and weaned, they receive eggs-pert tender loving care here.

Newly upgraded, the Centre makes its public debut for the first time in 24 years. Now you and your family can catch a glimpse of the extreme pampering that goes on behind-the-scenes in 8 viewing galleries. Two incubation rooms, two nursery rooms, three weaning rooms, one each for parrots, aquatic birds and other species, and a kitchen are the eight areas through which guests can take a peek at the eggs and chicks as they mature through life’s stages.

Each year, the BRC successfully hand rears about 150 chicks and birds, some of which includes critically endangered species like theBalistarling and the blue throated macaw. This is all part of JurongBirdPark’s carefully-managed breeding programme.

Here are the Highlights you can expect to see at the BRC:

Incubation Rooms
Eggs are kept snug and warm in special incubators equipped with automatic egg turners that keep the temperature and humidity of each egg constant, aiding in the incubation process.

Upon hatching, the chicks are taken to the Nursery where you can observe the hatchlings being hand-fed and pampered to perfection! Here they are housed in Brooders where the temperature and humidity continue to be monitored, ensuring these hatchlings are at their most comfortable.

Weaning Room
From the Brooders, chicks move on to the Weaning Room when they are fully grown to help them acclimatise to the environment and each other. Here, the birds are placed in cages until they are matured and ready to join the rest of their family in the respective exhibits.

Open Kitchen
The chicks and birds are kept on a strict diet, monitored and controlled by their keepers to maintain their optimum health. Pop by to see how their meals are being prepared!

BRC is open from 8.30am to 6pm daily and can be visited with every park admission.

Lend a helping hand to hand raise the chicks!

You’re needed to help hatch the 3 eggs, then feed and pamper them so that they can grow strong and healthy!

Shower the eggs and chicks with some tender loving care and stand a chance to win a family package (worth $60) to Jurong Bird Park! Only 4 prizes up for grabs!

So swing by every day to help accomplish the mission!
