Fashion, Film and more this May!

Hello everyone! We are now in the month of May, and that means the return of fashion and film to one of the hottest months for festivals in the year!

This month, gear up for lots of glitz, glamour, shopping and more—who says there’s nothing to do in Singapore?

Fashionistas rejoice! The Audi Fashion Festival (May 13-19) is back again! Held as part of the bigger trade event, the Asian Fashion Exchange (May 11-22), the AFF boasts sexy Italian fashion house Missoni as its scene-stealing curtain raiser, as well as high-fashion favorite Ungaro to end the festival with a bang. In between, expect to see lots of international names intermingled with Asian brands.

May also marks the return of Singapore’s beloved Arts Festival 2011 (May 13-June 5), this year bearing the theme “I Want to Remember”. Boasting a mind-boggling mix of creative performances and exhibitions, check out what you can’t miss in our preview of the Arts Festival highlights.

If you’re in the mood for more art, the Singapore Biennale(until May 15) is still ongoing—so plan your route wisely using Part 1andPart 2of our Biennale review!

As we enter into the height of summer, May is also well known for marking the start of Singapore’s favorite annual event—the Great Singapore Sale (May 27-July 24). While it needs no introduction, we’ll have more details(and deals) to follow – so stay tuned!

May’s a big month for film as well—with no less than 3 film festivals gracing our shores. If brevity’s your cup of tea, don’t miss the Very Short International Film Festival  (May 6-8), which proves that short and sweet sometimes does do the trick.

For a chance to catch more obscure Asian films, don’t miss out on the 2nd Asian Buddhist Film Festival (May 5-8) and the Southeast Asian Film Festival (through May 28)

Other festivals going on in May include Brass Explosion! (May 28-31), bringing together the “top brass” (pun very much intended), as well as the giddy, heart-pumping exhilaration also known as the Singapore Airlines International Cup(May 20-22). Also, don’t miss out on your last chance to catch the World Gourmet Summit(until May 8)!
