Not many 12-year-olds can say that they’ve performed for legendary blues-man BB King, and that honour goes to Joe Bonamassa.
Years on, the blue-rock singer-songwriter and guitarist who was named Billboard’s #1 Blues Artist based on the charting success of his last album Black Rock have captivated blues and rock fans alike with his distinct interpretation of the blues, and his extraordinary guitar skills. The legendary axe-man will be returning to the Esplanade on 17 September for a one night only gig.
In May 2009, the 34-year old played a sold out show at London’s Royal Albert Hall, and had the added privilege of being joined on stage by the legendary Eric Clapton. He had also toured with acts such as Buddy Guy, Foreigner, Robert Cray, Stephen Stills, Joe Cocker and Gregg Allman.
Bonamassa is also a member of the newly-formed rock super group Black Country Communion which includes Deep Purple/Black Sabbath bassist Glenn Hughes, former-Foreigner drummer Jason Bonham, and KISS keyboardist Derek Sherinian.
