For freelance videographer Syazali Mohd Fazal, last night was a dream come true twice over.
The wrestling and comic book fan won the opportunity of a lifetime when he went on stage to present a gift to former WWE wrestler and star of ‘Guardians of The Galaxy’ Dave Bautista.
“It was quite surreal. Dave Bautista is huge in real life. Being a Marvel and wrestling fan, this is certainly the best of both worlds,” Syazali gushed.

“This is the movie that I’ve been waiting for since 2012 after the ‘Avengers’ movie," he added. "During the mid-credits scene, when Thanos came on screen, I knew that Marvel would make a ‘Guardians of The Galaxy’ movie.”
Syazali is one of the estimated 1,000 avid fans who gathered at Shaw House’s Urban Plaza along Scotts Road in Singapore to catch a glimpse or take a selfie with director James Gunn, and stars Zoe Saldana and Bautista during their hour-long walk down the red carpet to promote their new movie.
But given the relative obscurity of the source material unlike other comic-book films such as ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ and ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’, the turnout was smaller.

Another fan, Chee Hwee Leong, who works in logistics, told inSing that he is confident that the movie will do very well.
“I was sold when I watched the trailer and I know that I am going to have fun. The best part about a movie like this is that (while) I don’t know what is happening, I know something big is going to happen,” Chee said.
Actress Saldana was so confident about the movie's success that she even made an offer to those who did not enjoy the movie.
“Give me your ticket and I’ll give you a refund,” said the actress who plays alien assassin Gamora.
‘Guardians of The Galaxy’, which opens in Singapore cinemas on 31 July, also stars Chris Pratt, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Karen Gillan and Michael Rooker.
It is about a group of misfits led by Peter Quill (Pratt) who get together to stop a villain, Ronan The Accuser (Pace), from endangering the universe.
Three hundred fans, including Chee and Syazali, were invited to catch a 17-minute extended footage screening after the red-carpet event.

“We are touched by the fact that all you guys came here tonight, waiting to see us. What this movie is about is that we are all not that much different underneath the skin,” Gunn told fans.
“This is a movie about a bunch of jerks who learnt to love each other and be heroes,” Gunn said.
Bautista, who spent most of his time here in the hotel gym working out, said that he “stepped out of his comfort zone” to do this movie.
The former wrestler, who made a shocking exit from the WWE last month, promises that he will be back in the ring.
"Of course, I will be back," he told inSing.
