Hong Kong Film Festival Goes Retro

Hong Kong, arguably Asia’s film capital for a long period of time, is all set to bring its unique flavour to Singapore for a week. To be hosted at Cathay Cineleisure Orchard’s Cineplexes, the one week Hong Kong Film Festival (Jul 14-20) will feature 10 titles.

Among the new films featured, award winning action comedy Gallants will also be premiering at the festival. It won big at the Hong Kong Film Awards 2011, garnering the Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor and Actress awards as well as Best Original Film Score. Rounding up the new offerings are triad movie Rebellion, plus romantic comedies Breakup Club and Give Love.

Retrospective titles chosen by a voting process (over 450 voters cast their votes) include evergreen classics like Swordsman II, Once Upon a Time in China II and All’s Well Ends Well. Rounding up the lineup is Quattro Hong Kong I & II, two short film collections of 4 each commissioned by Brand Hong Kong and produced by the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society.
