In Town: Backstreet Boys, Peggy Hsu, The Carrchy

Kick off the weekend with low-tempo, melifluous music from The Carrchy and Peggy Hsu, before turning up the heat with supernova-hot boyband the Backstreet Boys.

Backstreet Boys

Suntec Int'l Convention & Exhibition Hall

28 February

They don’t make boybands like they used to. For fans clamoring to see the full show, the boys are back in town to follow up their performance at the 2009 Formula 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix. Expect more of their signature slick dance moves while you groove to the tune of yesteryear hits such as I Want It That Way, Larger Than Life, to later smash singles from their sellout Black and Bluetour, which heralded the arrival of the Backstreet Boys as a major musical force to contend with in a sea of cookie-cutter manufactured pop outfits.

The Carrchy

Esplanade Recital Studio

26 February

Fans of low-fi indie Mando-pop, don’t miss The Carrchy’s debut performance in Singapore which promises to lull you into whimsical dreamlands while bopping your head to the beat at the same time. Described as a breath of fresh air in the Chinese music scene, the duo will be performing hits from their chart-topping debut album Sunshine over the City.

Peggy Hsu

Esplanade Recital Studio

27 February

Her first concert here in eight years, Peggy Hsu has come a long way since exploding on the Madarin music scene in 2001. Best known for her soulful ballads with a touch of childlike whimsy about balloons, finding Neverland, snow in Germany and imaginary friends, Hsu displays her increasing maturity in her beautifully-honed craft which showcases a range of styles.
