Justin Timberlake’s new In Time trailer surfaces

2011 had been a great year for science fiction movies, with I Am Number 4, Source Code, Super 8 and Limitless out a few months ago.

This brings us to In Time, the upcoming sci-fi thriller from Andrew Niccol, who was also a driving force behind the very brilliant Gattaca and The Truman Show.

In Time is a movie set in the late 21st century where time has replaced money as the currency of the day.  In this future society aging stops at 25 and everyone is given one year to live.  You can buy and sell your time but unless you replenish your clock, you die.  This “time is money” capitalism enables the wealthy to live forever while the poor have to beg, borrow, and steal enough minutes to live another day.

The writer/director has assembled a great cast for this movie, with Justin Timberlake in the lead, backed up by Amanda Seyfried, Olivia Wilde, Cillian Murphy, Alex Pettyfer and Mad Men's Vincent Kartheiser.

In the opening scene, the main character Will Salas (played by Timberlake) wakes up and only 23 hours on his life clock.  Like most of the masses, he is faced with the problem of finding” more time or he won’t live to see tomorrow. Salas is given a generous gift of minutes and hours by the 105-year-old Matt Bomer. Unfortunately, he is accused of murder and has to go on the run, taking Seyfried hostage.

The "sizzle reel" from the recent Comic-Con has been posted online, and we've reproduced it above for your viewing pleasure.

In Time opens in cinemas October 27.
