Mom’s the Word!

Mother’s Day is here! While this traditionally means flowers, chocolate and perhaps a lovely meal with Mom, nothing says “I love you” more than a customized treat.

Is your mom a shopaholic? Does she love her HK drama serials? We’ve trawled the list of Mommy-themed events for you to take her to this weekend and here’s our pick of the best. You won’t regret it – she’ll think you’re the best!

Does Mom love her Chinese drama serials? Don’t miss Mother’s Love concert (May 8, Sun), which brings together the main casts from perennially popular drama serial 《爱》, who will sing, dance and act their hearts out.

Was your mom a teenage rebel back in the day? Relive those rockin’ good times with her at the Buddy vs the Killer Musical (May 5-8), a celebration of original Rock ‘n Roll gods Buddy Holly and Jerry Lee Lewis. With floor-sizzling hits like “Peggy Sue”; “Oh Boy”; “Great Balls of Fire”, “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Going On” and more, it’s going to be a long night of rockin’ and rollin’!

If mom fancies a little friendly competition, form a team of two with her and head on down to Downtown East for their My Mom is Better than Your Mom contest (May 8)! Complete 10 challenges and accumulate the most number of points to win a total of $16,000 worth of great prizes. The best part? Nobody walks away empty-handed!

“Long bun… long lao!” Reminisce the golden years of Chinese pop with Mom at the SCO’s Mother’s Day concert (May 7, Sat), a traditionally star-studded affair boasting big names in the past like Frances Yip, Liza Wong and Adam Cheng.

If mom’s also a grandmom, nothing will please her more than shopping for clothes for your little ones! Take her to the Baby Gap- Gap Kids Sale to enjoy an afternoon of female bonding time (until May 11) while hopefully emerging with plenty of spoils for the kids.
