If dancing and raving on the high seas is your idea of fun, then you may want to board The Ship.
The team behind Future Music Festival Asia is throwing a four-night party on board a Royal Caribbean cruise liner this November, calling the event 'It’s The Ship'.
Setting off from Singapore on 21 November 2014, it will sail through the Straits of Malacca before dropping anchor in Langkawi, Malaysia for what the organiser calls “the ultimate beach party of epic proportions”, before returning 25 November.
The music festival – Asia’s largest at sea – is expected to draw 3,800 participants from all over the region.
This Friday (15 August), organisers Livescape Group will announce the line-up of DJs and acts for the event, and it is estimated to span genres such as EDM, trance, techno, rock and hip-hop.
Expect a lineup of international and regional acts – headliners include Lil Jon, Chvrches, Crookers, Alex Metric, SBCR: The Bloody Beetroots and Tropkillaz – to perform live for passengers on board.
Livescape’s chief executive Muhammad Iqbal in a statement said that 'It’s The Ship' aims to to provide music fans in the region with a "one-of-a-kind festival experience", "by merging both the relaxed atmosphere of a vacation and the fun experience of a world-class music festival into one".
The event will take place on board Royal Caribbean’s Voyager of the Seas, which holds a vast range of facilities including the world’s first rock climbing wall (mounted on the funnel), an ice-skating rink and 10 swimming pools.
Cabin registration is open now. If you register before 15 August, you will get a 20-per-cent discount when paying for your cabin when sales officially open at a later date.
More acts will be revealed soon closer to the date, so watch this space.
