If you didn’t already know, this couple of months is the season of superheroes. We were absolutely psyched when Thor threw his hammer at the almost-mechanical Destroyer and saving the day or when Ryan Reynolds aka The Green Lantern first uttered the words to the Green Lantern Oath or when Magneto, standing at the beach, stopped a barrage of missiles with a wave of his hands.
Next up is Captain America: The First Avenger and with gazillions of fanboys around, there is a lot of pressure on Marvel to get it right on this one. Well, they’ve certainly hit the nail on its head with Thor and X-Men: First Class, and from the looks of Cap’s new promo trailer, things are definitely looking good.
From watching the trailer, it seems that they’ve got a solid storyline here for Cap’s origin movie. Although it’s set in the serious tone of WWII, the creators still managed to slip in some funny nuggets (like Steve Rogers asking to go to the gents for a leak. Hey, it’s a comic book movie after all, right?) And in true Tommy Lee Jones fashion, we see the actor at his best: Playing the part of mean cop, bad-ass instructor and father-figure types; this time as Colonel Chester Phillips. Of course, there are plenty of action peeks and glimpses of Cap throwing his shield around to whet your appetite.
Also, there's a sweet new poster that's just been released here with Chris Evans looking mighty patriotic. Perhaps the armed forces boys can take a leaf out of Marvel's book and adapt the poster for their recruitment drive.
Verdict? Most definitely a must-watch.
