1. Placebo Concert

Don’t miss the glam-rock gods of the British alternative music scene as they descend from the heavens for one night only this Thursday. Fresh from winning their first MTV Europe Music Award for “Best Alternative Act” last year, beating out The Killers, Prodigy, Paramore and Muse, the concert will showcase their latest album, Battle for the Sun, released in 2009.

Thursday only, at Fort Canning Park. Tickets at $98.


2.Mosaic Music Festival

This year’s Mosaic features performances by Kings of Convenience, Soulbop, Pink Martini, Dinosaur Jr, The Go! Team and more. The 10-day event also features lots of free performances at 3 sections of the Esplanade: The concourse, outdoor theatre and the library.

3. Makan Drama Festival Double Bill

Inspired by Singaporeans' two greatest loves: food and eating, Makan Drama Festival by ACTION Theatre presents delicious new local plays, standup comedy, musical theatre, performance poetry, fun public talks and dramatized readings. This double bill includes Perfecting Prata by Desmond Sim and Cravings by Chong Tze Chien.

Until March 28, at the Action Theatre. Tickets from $35 to $45.


4. Zee Avi Live Showcase

Don’t miss young jazz sensation Zee Avi at this intimate showcase for one night only. Though only 23, this huge talent in a petite frame will be performing hits from her self titled debut album, which achieved no. 9 on the Associated Press annual Best Albums of the Year in 2009.

Friday only, at Stereolab.


5. River Festival 2010

Take a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life and come down to this vibrant riverside market. Explore the innovative treasures on offer - the market stalls are full of goodies from paintings to arty crafts to chic fashion apparels to handmade accessories and many more.

Every Friday to Sunday until the end of March, at the River Promenade. Free.
