Plenty of plays and other October fun for kids!

October is here, while this means we’re one step closer to the dreaded final year exams, this also means the December holidays is soon upon us!

This month, get your young ones to focus on their studies (if they’re old enough for school) but don’t neglect to refresh the mind through other means of educational entertainment as well.

Nourish young minds with engaging yet educational plays! Oh What a Noisy Zoo! (Oct 22-25) teaches children about different animals, their characteristics and the sounds they make and even encourage them to join in. Recommended for kids aged 2-4.

The young ones are also in for a treat this month with Watch the Magic of Dance Unfold - The Nutcracker (Oct 9), where this retelling of timeless classics by Tchaikovsky entreats kids to join the Nutcracker on a journey through pre-WWW Shanghai. Through the Land of Snow and the Kingdom of Sweets to meet the Snow Queen and the Sugar Plum Fairy to dance the Waltz of the Flowers. Again recommended for children aged 2 and above.

For older children, we recommend Sleeping Beauty (until Oct 16), a remodeling of the classic fairy tale to include a modern twist. Entertaining, endearing and with a wicked sense of humor, we dare you not to leave this with a big smile on your face. Closer to the end of the month, we'll also see a staging of the Elves & the Shoemaker , which revisits the beloved story of a poor shoemaker, a trio of magical elves, and a multitude of magical shoes by the Brothers Grimm. (We're also giving away family packs of 4 tickets worth $140 a pack! Find out how you can WIN one for your family.)

Get the young ones interested in history by taking them to tour Dr Sun Yat Sen’s stamp exhibition held (until Oct 16) to commemorate the 100th anniversary of China’s 1911 Revolution. Your kids will be able to uncover Dr Sun’s story through explorative displays specially made for them in mind!

Lastly, if you want to start your bundle of joy out early to nurture them into future athletes, get them to participate in eXplorerkid’s signature event – the Baby and Junior Race (Oct 1). Apart from the races, there’ll be a fete for the whole family to enjoy as well. Lots of fun prizes in a festive environment – what more can you ask for?
