Mural Masterpieces: With Post-it!

Post-It notes become massive pieces of art at “Say It With Colours” Post-it Wall Mural Exhibit.

At the launch party for “Say It With Colours” Post-it Wall Mural Exhibit, guests were treated to a gorgeous sight; two ceiling-high murals meticulously constructed from over 7000 pieces of Post-it Super Sticky Notes.

These stunning works of art were a labour of love for the students at Orita Sinclair School of Design.

In collaboration with Doodle! Pasta, Noodle & Wine Bar (##02-01/02/03, Oasia Hotel, 8 Sinaran Drive; tel 6659 7957) the exhibition was aimed at fuelling their drive for greater creative innovation.

For Cara Ng, 19, and Yvonne Chang, 22, it was all about fun.

The dynamic duo had decided upon depicting the legendary blue whale as their mural design.

When quizzed on the reasoning behind their choice, they simply offered, “We love whales! They cheer us up.”

Added Cara, “It was Yvonne’s idea actually that was based on her sketch. We wanted to bring her drawing to life on a larger scale.”

And indeed they have.

Spread out over four glass panel walls, the beautiful design is enormous up-close and pays a fitting tribute to the majestic sea creature.

Not to be outdone, Trupti Dorge’s Post-it objet d’art is a deluge of bright colours.

The 30-year-old former software developer and current Orita Sinclair student cites her inspiration as a mixture of graffiti, street art and Brazilian carnivals.

“The feedback has been great and it really gives me the confidence to pursue my passion for graphic design,” said Trupti.

Such opportunities for the students to showcase their talents would not have been possible without the platform provided by Doodle!

The use of the pasta and noodle restaurant as the venue for the event is in line with their commitment towards promoting the local arts and design scene.

“The concept of ‘Doodle!’ revolves around creativity,” explained Adrien Desbaillets, president of the franchise, “By approaching Orita Sinclair, we saw the potential to come together and create something unique.”
