Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre returns for ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’

London theatre company Shakespeare's Globe is bringing the Bard’s most popular rom-com, ‘A Midsummer Night's Dream’ to the Esplanade this November.

The four-day show will start from 13 November and be directed by Dominic Dromgoole who has directed other Shakespearean plays, including ‘King Lear’, ‘Romeo And Juliet’ and ‘Hamlet’.

The play tells the story of two sets of lovers, Hermia and Lysander, and Helena and Demetrius, whose happiness is threatened when the Duke of Athens tries to force Hermia and Demetrius to marry.

The couples flee to the woods where they become entangled in a dispute between a fairy king and queen.

It will be the Globe's second time performing in Singapore, following their debut last year at Fort Canning with ‘The Taming of the Shrew’.

From now until the end of April, 450 Category 1 and Category 2 tickets to the performance will be going at 25 per cent off their original prices. The tickets can be bought through Sistic.
