Listen up. This is not just another rave.
Reminiscent of underground warehouse parties in Europe, the second wave of Super 0 Season (S0S), returns this year, bigger and better. Who said you need household DJs to run a festival?
DJs Ryan Elliott and Tama Sumo
While the first round of S0S in April 2013 saw the attendance of over 4,000 party-goers, Part Deux of the S0S series promises a diverse bill of both international and local acts. There’s a new lineup every week, featuring everything from DJ sets and live VJing to a silent disco, a record shop and the new addition of a Social Dining Club.
The sequel runs over four Saturdays in November, namely 9, 16, 23 and 30 November, at the uber cool industrial space of [email protected] Mill.
DJs Javi Bora and Daniel Bell
Here are some of this year's lineup.
INTERNATIONAL CLUB NIGHTS
Connoisseurs of underground music, you don't even have to leave Singapore. Super 0 Season is bringing a stellar line up to you.
As far as international club nights go, one of the highlights have to be Ostgut Ton Nacht from Bergahin/ Panorama in Berlin in the opening week, featuring resident DJs Ryan Elliott and Tama Sumo.
Not to be outdone is Javi Bora, the latest addition to the avant-garde club exeperience that is Space Ibiza's 'Kekahuma'. He spins during week 3, alongside Daniel Bell from the USA.
Week 4 sees Cologne’s Kompakt’s 20th Anniversary Tribute with headliners Tobias Thomas, Terranova and Scharre.
Zig Zach, or Kim Khan Zaki, is a muay thai fighter by day and DJ by night.
DJ KFC, who played at SEA in Brooklyn, NYC recently.
DJ Zig Zach spins during week 2, whereas DJ KFC spins on week 3. These up and comers are ones to look out for, long after Super 0 Season ends.
Representing for Singapore are DJ Zig Zach and DJ KFC.
THE FESTIVAL EXPERIENCE
Beyond the DJ decks, there are also plenty of activities. The addition of the dining aspect to the underground clubbing scene, via the Social Dining Club, sees the creativity of the music, art and design extending to the cuisine.
Art and design feature prominently, with Projection Mapping (where objects turn into surfaces for video projection) and 3D printed decor will morph the landscape. You can even learn how to DJ at the free Pop Lab DJ Workshops and partake in a Silent Disco, accompanied by booze and tasty treats. Its not another staid, predictable affair but a communal space for the chatty, greedy and curious.
Local heroes like #vinyloftheday, FFF GirlDJ Bootcamp, Matteblacc’s Soul Rhumba, Midnight Shift & Kompakt take their place, lending their favourite tunes to the vibe. All from 8pm onwards.
