OrchardRoad turns into a three-day party this weekend as theShine Festivalgoes underway. Check out the live performances by Charlie Lim, Weish, Radikal Forze Crew, Shigga Shay, The Zadon, Samba Masala and New Stream Brass Band, and appearances by homegrown YouTube artistes Night Owl Cinematics. International personalities such as dancer Lydia Paek, musician David Choi, model-actress Arden Cho and YouTube star Ryan Higa will also be in town.

This Friday Kilo Lounge hosts another edition of house music with DOOMPH!featuring the likes of DJs Brendon P, JB and Stephen Day.

'Summer' - Deon Toh

Singer-songwriter Deon Toh releases his new album, ‘Oceans’ at the Substation this Friday (7.30-9.30pm | Tickets from $25). The music is written as a travelogue, cycling through the seasons from summer to spring, symbolising the growth of Toh as an artiste.

The classic award-winning show 'Singin' in the Rain' opens this weekend.Based on the 1952 MGM movie starring Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds, ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ is set in 1927, just when talking movies started to displace silent pictures and follows silent movie star Don Lockwood and aspiring actress Kathy Selden through the transition.

Breakfast at 8 Jungle at 9

Inspired by naturalist Russel Wallace who spent some time in Singapore before co-formulating the theory of natural selection, photographer Ernest Goh, who has taken of 1,000 pictures of animals presents 'Breakfast at 8 Jungle at 9', an exhibition of nature-themed prints at Objectifs Centre for Photography (155 Middle Rd | Fri 11am-7pm, Sat noon-6pm).

The S$1.15 million stakes Emirates Singapore Derby, one of the richest horse races in Singapore, returns to the racetracks on SundayBesides the action on the track, the most well-dressed guests will also be in the running for the coveted "Best Dressed to the Races" title. The winner, which will be selected by a panel of judges, stands to win a pair of business class tickets to Melbourne with accommodation and parade lounge passes to the Melbourne Cup.

'The Ugly Duckling'

Originally presented in English in 2005, 'The Ugly Duckling' returns, this time in Mandarin. This family extravaganza, directed by Danny Yeo, features song, dance, puppetry to recreated the magical journey of an outcast finding her place. 

Don’t miss 'Journey - Purpose in Motion', a dance concert by the Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan dance Theatre. Highlights include traditional dances, a re-examination of some of their favourite pieces from the past as well as new choreographic numbers.

'Realla' - Tokimonsta featuring Anderson Paak

Jennifer Lee or otherwise known as Tokimonstabrings her blissed-out beats and bleeps to Velvet Underground this Saturday, with resident Zushan on support duties.

‘90s megastarJeff Chang visits Singapore for a one-night only concert this weekend at Resorts World Sentosa.
