Culture vultures are in for a treat this weekend with the opening of not one but three exciting stage productions.
Featuring music from Abba, ‘Mamma Mia!’ tells the story of a young woman Sophie, brought up on a Greek island by her mother Donna, and never knowing the identity of her father - until she finds a diary that suggests three possible fathers. With a stellar cast and crew of over 60 people from London, the musical features 28 Abba hits including ‘Dancing Queen’, ‘Í have A Dream’, ‘The Winner Takes It All’, ‘Voulez Vous’ and ‘Super Trouper’.
After last year’s all-female staging of ‘The Taming Of The Shrew’, it’s time to get ready for Bottom, Titania, Oberon, Puck for ‘A Midsummer Night's Dream’ by the world famous Globe Theatre.
Don’t miss a rare showcase of two of Japan’s most important theatre—Noh and Kabuki. Japan Theatreis headlined by Ebizo Ichikawa XI, one of the most famous names in the genre today. The show marks his international debut and he will be joined by 50 other troupe members as they perform two well known acts, Noh Shakkyo (Stone Bridge) and Renjishi (Lion Dance).
Liverpool FC’s football legends are in Singapore this week for a match against some of Singapore’s best players.The match, which kicks off at 7pm this Saturday (15 Nov) at the Jalan Besar Stadium, will include the likes of former Liverpool stars Emile Heskey, Robbie Fowler and Steve McManaman, while Fandi Ahmad, V Sundramoorthy and Lim Tong Hai will be part of the Singapore Ex-Internationals side. You can also catch the Liverpool stars at ameet-and-greetsession on 14 Nov at the ION Orchard basement from 7:30pm.
Homegrown craft label FIN will be holding its first trunk show at Life is Beautiful (99 Duxton Rd.) starting this weekend. This trunk show, ‘ブルー Buru’ (15-16 Nov | 11am-5pm) features products made with indigo-dyed fabrics, denim and blue cotton canvas. Expect handcrafted tote bags, purses, aprons and other accessories.
Spanish DJ Paco Osuna will be spinning his brand of techno at the Velvet Underground. He will be joined by Japanese hosue jock DJ Emma.
Celebrity chef and TV personality Rachel Khoo is in Singapore this Saturday and she will be meeting fans at Kinokuniya Books in Ngee Ann City.
