Bedok Reservoir Park is hosting one of the largest gathering of Made-in-Singapore indie music over three weekends, starting this Friday. 100+50 (7-10.30pm | Free) features 100 bands and 50 electronic acts including The Observatory, Charlie Lim, Caracal, ANECHOIS, TAJ, Allura and more.
Over 90 works from 16 local designers including Hans Tan, Hoko and Yong Jieyu are on show at Singapore Souvenirs (through 16 Aug | 9am-9pm | Free). The collection features products and souvenirs designed around Singapore's language, food and lifestyle. There’s also has a design-centric pasar malam selling locally designed products happening this weekend too.
'Ankara' by FIN
Craftsman and maker of all things denim and canvas FIN is holding another trunk show this Friday and Saturday at his studio. ‘Ankara’ (#06-06 Halcyon Building, 39A Jln Peminpin | 31 Jul, 5-10pm; 1 Aug, 11am-7pm) sees him working with accessories maker Wabi Sabi Goods and sneaker customiser SBTG. Expect the usual well-crafted aprons, bags and accessories made with African fabrics, canvas and denim.
For a bit of nostalgia this weekend, head down to the Drama Centre Theatre for Roaring Good Times 8 Cross Talk Show. The show features local topics like ‘Singapore Lah’, ‘5566’ and ‘SG50’ performed by senior performers from the Young People’s Performing Arts Ensemble.
Come take a peek at life in Singapore 25 years ago at Asian Civilizations Museum’s Unearthed - Singapore at 25exhibition. A time capsule buried in 1990 that contains items from the first National Service mobilisation, development plans from the 1970s, military medals, stamps, public phone cards and a poster of our former zoo ambassador Ah Meng see the light again for the first time.
