The Best of Broadway Comes to MBS

We were all tickled pink when his nimble cats sang and danced their way on stage or held our breaths when the Phantom kidnaps Christine and brought her to his lair. Now you can relive all the best moments of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s greatest works through music.

All the classic Broadway hits loved by many will be immortalized in a rare theatrical event as Marina Bay Sands brings to Singapore The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, a celebration of the greatest musical hits of the master composer happening at the Marina Bay Sands Grand Theatre.

The new theatrical event happening from July 7-17 will feature an internationally acclaimed cast that will bring together all the greatest Broadway hits from Webber.

The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber will have critically-acclaimed songs from such Broadway hits as Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Starlight Express, Sunset Boulevard, The Likes of Us, Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Tell Me On A Sunday, among many others.

Here’s a peek of what to expect:

Some of these hits gave Webber citations that include seven Tony Awards, three Grammys including Best Contemporary Classical Composition for Requiem, seven Laurence Olivier Awards, a Golden Globe, an Oscar statuette, two International Emmys, the Praemium Imperiale, the Richard Rodgers Award for Excellence in Musical Theatre and The Kennedy Center Honor.

Cats, Starlight Express and Jesus Christ Superstar, have been cited as among the longest-running musicals in British theatre history. Webber is also the first composer to have a trio of musicals running in London and New York.

His latest musical Love Never Dies, which continues the story of the Phantom and Christine, received its world premiere at London’s Adelphi Theatre in March 2010 and will open this year in Melbourne and Tokyo.

The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber happens from Jul 7-17 at Marina Bay Sands Grand Theatre. Tickets $65-125 available from
