Tolkien nerds, here is what you’ve been waiting for. We’re about six months away from what could be the movie event of the year and the busy wizards from Middle Earth have conjured up the first trailer for ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ for your viewing pleasure.
The clip promises an action-packed adventure through Middle Earth where we see Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and the gang of dwarves continue on their journey to The Lonely Mountain on a quest to reclaim the dwarves' homeland and vanquish a dragon.
Fans of the original trilogy will definitely be excited to see the return of Orlando Bloom reprising the role of elf Legolas as well as new faces Lee Pace’s Elven king Thranduil, Evangeline Lily as elf warrior Tauriel, Mikael Persbrandt as shape-shifter Beorn and Luke Evans as Bard the Bowman. There’s also a longer glimpse of the offending dragon that so many people are fussing about, but sadly we won’t hear it speaking in Benedict Cumberbatch’s voice until the movie opens.
