Just looking at the myriad of events we’ve featured here so far, Singapore is truly well on its way to earning a name as a sporting nation! Continuing with the stellar line-up of events, check out these upcoming races for the month of July, and as usual, stay happy, healthy and hydrated!
Pick of the month: Tri-Factor Run
If you’re beginning to feel like you’ve run one too many half-marathons, but feel that you might not be quite ready to take on a full marathon just yet, this is the event for you.
The Tri-Factor run is Singapore’s only three-quarter marathon distance at 31.5Km, and is the perfect opportunity for those of you thinking of clocking a little more distance, and fancy lots of company and camaraderie while at it! The event starts at the F1 pit, and winds around scenic Marina Bay.
Even if you’re a newbie to running, don’t be intimidated by the folks in racing flats and flashy tights! This event is designed for anyone and everyone who has an interest in running, and also offers 1Km and 5Km distances for running newbies, as well as quarter-marathon (10.5Km) and half-marathon distances for more intermediate runners.
When: Sunday, 8 July 2012; staggered flag-off, beginning at 6am for the 31.5Km event

Jurong Lake Run
Fancy a scenic run around Jurong Lake, the Chinese Garden and the Japanese Garden? Then sign up for this annual race that takes you through some of the most beautiful gardens in Singapore.
What’s cool about this race, is the fact that there are familiarization runs organized in the weeks leading up to the event. This is a great way to meet new like-minded people, as well as to get oriented to the route, especially if you’re looking to clock a new personal speed record.
Race distances include 6Km and 10Km categories, as well as a 3Km walk, so there’s no reason not to make this event a family outing! There will also be an event carnival with music performances to unwind to post-race!

The Republic Run 2012
Organised by Republic Polytechnic and Nam Hong Welfare Service Society, the Republic Run is a charity run that aims to raise awareness of charitable giving to the less fortunate through the fun and healthy activity of a running event.
The spirit of the event is centered around fun and family, to emphasize fitness for all, and family bonding. Choose from 6km and 10km race categories, both of which circle around the beautiful campus of Republic Polytechnic in the North. If you’ve never had the opportunity to head up that way, take this chance to check out the lovely campus, and explore this Northern neighbourhood of Singapore on foot!
Make a whole day out of this event, and check out the IGNITE! Music Festival, featuring the best talents in home-brewed music acts! Over 20,000 people have enjoyed the IGNITE! Music Festival over the years, so head on down to Republic Polytechnic to catch a piece of the musical action for yourself!

Organised by the Singapore Cancer Society, this annual race aims to raise funds and awareness to support cancer treatment programmes in Singapore. The Singapore Cancer Society was founded in 1964, and organises various fundraising activities throughout the year as it is dependent on public donations to provide quality services to cancer patients, their families and the public.
Show your support for cancer patients and survivors by hitting the road at East Coast Park! Your participation will help to continue the incredible work of the Singapore Cancer Society to offer the best possible care to its patients and survivors.
This event will also be graced by Guest-Of-Honour, Mr Chan Chun Sing, Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports & Minister of State, Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts. Mark this event on your race calendar to work up a sweat and earn some karma points along the way.

Everest Girl is Jane Lee, who is seldom found stationary. She is an accomplished mountain-climber, having recently reached the summit of the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest. When she is not climbing her way around the world, Jane devotes an inordinate amount of time to training for her next climb, marathon, or adventure sport. A serious endorphin addict, Jane ranks trail running high on her list of loves, and has pounded mud, sand, gravel and rocks on trails in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, and her staple favourite, MacRitchie Reservoir. Her favourite motto? “If you’re still standing, then you’re not done yet.”
