2NE1's Dara: 'I want to do a kissing scene in a movie'

It must be the heat… or the chilli crabs.

Things got a little heated up during the press conference of the YG Family concert on 12 September evening at Resorts World Sentosa Convention Centre.

Sandara Park, better known as Dara from K-pop girl group 2NE1, disclosed that she would like to try out acting in a movie just like T.O.P from boyband BigBang.

T.O.P promptly replied: "Why don't you demonstrate a crying scene on the spot?"

“I’d rather do a kissing scene than a crying scene,” the 29-year-old singer revealed to laughter from her fellow artistes.

When egged on to reveal with whom she would like to do the kissing scene, Dara sheepishly said “Mithra Jin”, referring to fellow YG artiste from hip-hop group Epik High.

Bigbang’s Taeyang followed up with chants of “right now, right now…”

“The heat, the heat,” quipped Tablo from Epik High to laughter from the floor.

Some of the biggest stars of K-pop from talent agency YG Entertainment are in Singapore for the weekend to perform at a two-day K-pop extravaganza, the YG Family 2014 Galaxy Tour concert.

The star-studded line-up, apart from the groups above, include Psy and rookies Winner.

Singapore is the only Southeast Asian stop of the tour and this is the first time the YG artistes are performing together at a concert here. Previously, BigBang, 2NE1 and Psy have done solo performances in Singapore.

Noticeably missing from the press conference is BigBang’s Seungri. The 23-year-old singer had to miss this weekend’s concert after he was injured in a car accident in Seoul this week.

South Korean media reported that the singer was driving his Porsche along an expressway when his car crashed into a Mercedes Benz in front of him. His vehicle then hit a rail guard and flipped.

The artistes did not let that get in the way of their high spirits though. They were all smiles and even cracked a few jokes among themselves, and of course, they were taking selfies with mobile phones provided by concert sponsor Samsung.

When asked what food they would like to try while they are here, BigBang’s Daesung remarked: “The last time we were here for our last tour, we tried so many pepper and chilli crabs that we walked back to the hotel sideways!”

New group Winner, who made their debut just in August, will be sharing the stage with their more famous counterparts.

The quintet of Kang Seung Yoon, Lee Seung Hoon, Song Min Ho, Nam Tae Hyun, and Kim Jin Woo have tasted quick success. Their first studio album, ‘2014 S/S’, topped South Korea's major music charts and made its mark in the United States when it took first place on Billboard's World Albums chart and made a top-10 entry on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart.

Kang said: “It is a great honour to be with the rest on stage because we’ve always been part of the audience, watching their performances. Now that we’re artistes ourselves, we need to perform with them. I’m sure it will be a good experience and we will push ourselves harder to be part of the YG family.”
